A show doesn't happen if a network doesn't pick it up. The most important time for networks is the annual upfront presentations, this is where the schedules are released and pitches are made to advertisers giving them an "upfront" opportunity to buy commercial ad slots in advance. Shows get cancelled if there isn't sufficient advertiser interest to buy ad slots.

Similarly, the US networks also hold upfront presentations to Canadian media networks and other countries. The American shows you see airing on CTV, Global, etc.., those Canadian channels have bought the licensing rights to air those shows to a Canadian audience and in turn sell ad space to Canadian advertisers.

"Two and a Half Men" Child Star Signs Huge Contract
Child Star Angus T. Jones Set to Make Some Big Bucks

Hollywood, FL 10/10/2010 01:00 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)

"Two and a Half Men" is still one of the most popular shows on TV these days. So it is not too surprising that 'half'-man child star Angus T. Jones, is set to make some big bucks as he continues to play one of the main characters on the hit CBS show. According to TMZ.com, the 16-year-old actor has recently signed an extension contract with the show worth $300,000 per episode. The hefty contract was signed on May 12th and promises $7.8 million over the next two seasons, in addition to a $500,000 signing bonus. And that is just for a minimum of 26 episodes over the next two years. Jones could actually earn $14.4 million in the next two years if he appears in every one of the 48 episodes that CBS has planned. E! Online put the story humorously, saying, "That Two and a Half Men Kid Makes More in a Week Than You Will All Year. Enjoy Your Weekend." Jones will very likely be enjoying his weekend, because this young millionaire's 17th birthday was on Friday.

Also making big bucks with the hit show is Charlie Sheen, who plays Jones' uncle on the show. Around the same time that Jones was inking his lucrative deal, Sheen was signing a huge contract of his own. He is set to earn $2 million an episode, which translates into at least $52 million over the next two years.

Charlie Sheen Had ‘Allergic Reaction,’ Says Rep. ‘Yeah, To Cocaine,’ Says Hooker.

While Charlie Sheen’s rep is seriously trying to sell the old “my client just had an allergic reaction to some medication” excuse, the hooker claims an already-drunk Charlie flipped out after snorting a line of cocaine, according to RadarOnline:

“She said after he did the coke, he flipped out, couldn’t find his wallet and accused her of stealing it.”
Things quickly went downhill from there, with the disturbance in the room growing louder and louder.

I touched on this briefly in the previous post, but again, what happened here is nothing short of amazing. Granted, I should be focusing on how Charlie Sheen should’ve gone to jail, but I can’t get over the fact that Brooke Mueller, the mother of his newborn children, was jealous over a song he sings with his daughter Sam and got a knife to a throat with threats to use ex-police to hide her body for it. Meanwhile, a random prostitute allegedly steals from him, and she walks away with nary a scratch as he turns his rage towards inanimate objects instead. Talk about a deep, highly-trained respect for the profession. It’s almost unnatural.

On a side note, yes, that is CBS president Les Moonves up top. The photo was taken just last month where he referred to Charlie as his “cleanup hitter” because Les Moonves has a horrible sense of irony and feeds off the domestic violence of others.

Yup, next up is Judge Judy at $45m. Oprah makes 7 times more.
Then, Letterman at $28m. Oprah makes 11.25 times more.

No one is even remotely close.

Charlie Sheen goes up again!

So Charlie Sheen, a rich, alcoholic, whore monger, gets $52 million to play a rich, alcoholic, whore monger on t.v.? He doesn't even have to respond to a different name, his "character's" name is Charlie.

DC5-S 10-28-2010 03:38 PM

yes hes suppose to play himself.... you catch in quick eh?
