Fedex brokerage fees

So I'm thinking of buying a set of wheels and I'm looking at the cost of doing it.

So for a $1000 set of wheels shipped from USA. There is free shipping to USA but they cannot ship there since they don't ship to USA with Canadian credit card.

So shipping to Canada would be about $1150 for 4 boxes of wheels.

They said they use Fedex to ship.

Now I'm wondering if Fedex has brokerage fees to pay and how much is the % on the item value? Same % as UPS?

I will get charged 12% HST when it arrives as well?

If coming as 4 different shipments, you might have to pay 4x broker fees, plus taxes, plus duty.

I would find a different company willing to ship within the US.

Fedex rapes you, I bought a seat lift kit for my truck from a company in the states, $125 for the kit, 62 in brokerage fees

a bit off topic, but someone shipped me something by fedex that was worth 5$ (it was because i bought another item from this person and they forgot to ship this with the first order) , then a week later i got a 15$ brokerage charge in the mail.
what happens if i dont pay it? Has anyone tried?
Theyve already sent me 2 notices to pay.

damn, that's crazy! how much was actually duties and taxes? (I ask this because there's usually a breakdown on a separate piece of paper of what was charged regarding the items shipped)

hal0g0dv2 08-17-2010 09:33 AM

i fucking hate fed x , unless they are going to pay the duties dont get them shipped fed x , try and get them to ship it usps

InvisibleSoul 08-17-2010 09:47 AM

If you upgrade to express shipping, there shouldn't be any brokerage charge... it's only for the regular ground service that there is.

I'm not 100% sure about this for FedEx, but I AM 100% sure about this for UPS.

TRD Rs200 08-17-2010 09:47 AM

NEVER NERVER use FEDEX! I bought a set of coilovers for 600 and fedex charged me 200 brokerage fee, I GOT RAPED!

Expresso 08-17-2010 09:49 AM

THERE IS BROKERAGE ONLY ON GROUND SHIPPING YOU CHEAP FUCKS

StylinRed 08-17-2010 10:44 AM

If you contact your Credit Card company and provide them an alternate mailing address (in the US) all you should have to do is tell the website that you want it billed to so-and-so and shipped-to-wherever and just let them know the address is under your CC's Account

brokerage fees will pwn you! my advice, get some cheap steelies with throw away tires, find some local deals near the border and I'm sure you can figure out the rest!

Doubl3_H 08-17-2010 05:45 PM

kind of off topic, but sometimes companies have different websites for ordering. Like a US site for customers in the us, and Canada sites for canadians.

When i was looking for a set of weathertech rubber mats for my car, i was directed to the CND site, and they wanted 219 plus shipping and all to my doors, total 250.xx.

Then i clicked on the US site and they want 179.99 and free fedex ground within us. After trying out all their payment options and found google checkout let me order from the US site, i was able to save quite a bit of money.

murd0c 08-17-2010 05:50 PM

Fedex and UPS both the same and rape you. just ship them to blaine and save your self lots of cash

impactX 08-17-2010 09:15 PM

With UPS, at least you could clear custom yourself.

Meowjin 08-17-2010 09:29 PM

you fail me but this is like the 40th time that people have talked about how fed ex rapes them. Maybe if you guys read their TOS you would know that Expatiated includes brokerage and costs only 10% more and your package comes faster.

Bit old but gives you the basic idea of the brokerage rates FedEx charges;
