Ok. Not gonna troll here. :D

This is a local secret, out of the way, but the lobster and crab here - fucking delicious.

Try their famous house special lobster, crab, and/or fried pork chop. Once you try it, you will seriously say "Fuck the service and wait. It was seriously worth it!" :D

Lineups/wait times can be horrendous, up to 1 hour at times. Service - they do try their best. But oh man. Totally worth it, especially with a group of 10 people. They accept cash and credit. Dessert? Lots of bubble tea joints near by.

Perfect after visiting the Desert Hills Outlet!

scenic drive on highway 60

We're going to take a day trip down to San Diego now so I'll see if they want to detour there for dinner

Any recommendations for San Diego besides the usual Seaworld + San Diego zoo? Is it worth it to head down to Tijuana?

If time permits, stop by old town San Diego. Some of the best authentic Mexican cuisine and hospitality in SoCal to be had. For shopping/tourist stuff, check out I think it's called Horton Plaza.

Tijuana - for a day trip, I would say no. Your way back to LA on the 405 can be a nightmare. Save your stomachs for that lobster, crab and pork chop @ Newport Seafood. :fullofwin:

Edit: This is their website. I haven't been to the one in San Gabriel but it looks as if they've renovated. I've only been to the one in Rowland Heights. Oh, and try their beef loc lac. Check out their menu! :D

(My mouth is watering.)

Ch28 03-29-2011 03:15 PM

The San Gabriel location is only a 20 min drive from our rental house by Franklin Village. I'm pretty sure we'll check out that location instead of the one in Rowland Heights. San Gabriel location also had much more reviews and a overall higher score on Yelp.

Thanks for the quick responses BCR :)

bcrdukes 03-29-2011 03:39 PM

Enjoy the food, take lots of pictures and let us know what you think. :)

San Gabriel is awesome for HK style and Vietnamese food if you guys are craving a late night snack. Lots of bubble tea and HK cafes open late in that area. Not a lot to see in the area though. :\

I'm planning on going to the LA area around the end of april. I'm however going to Carson/Torrance. Not somewhere tourist usually go.

Looking at the map the area is directly below Compton. As anybody ever been there before? is the whole area really as bad as its reputation? Would i be ok walking 2 miles to my hotel at night by myself???? its hard to get unbiased opinions abt this online. Would appreciated if anybody that have travel to that area for personal/business purpose could offer some honest input.

Never been there but if I were you... I would jsut rent a car and drive (unless you are young)...rather be safe than sorry.. especially walking 2 miles at night when it's not your "territory"..

Just my opinion...

Are you serious? http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/ugh.gif

There's a reason it was tagged as NWS & put in a spoiler.

*Shrug*

Check out LAist: Los Angeles News, Food, Arts & Events or LA Mag online for ideas.

If you need tickets to the Lakers game on the 31st, my cousin has a pair of tickets for sale. Selling it @ face value.

Thought I'd bump this thread

I'm going to LA for a business trip for a few days and will be staying at a hotel located near LAX airport. Is there anything to do around this area? I won't have my own car as the hotel has a shuttle to the airport..

Absolutely not! :fuckthatshit:

Maybe head to In'n'Out Burger on Sepulveda/PCH and Westchester but even then, it's a bit of a walk.

TRDood 06-17-2012 02:18 AM

Rent a car at the airport. Seriously it's only $20 a day.

There's absolutely nothing near the airport. Which hotel you staying? Holiday Inn is across from some fast food joints :lawl:

Yeah, my said friend there is practically nothing to do and I heard In N' Out is the only thing close as well :\

Staying at the Marriott but my friend said there might be a shuttle that can take you to downtown, I'll maybe think about renting a car but don't know if it'll be really worth my time.

There's nothing to see in LA downtown. NHL and NBA are over.

bcrdukes 06-17-2012 08:15 PM

How long are you staying in LA for? If it's just a day or two, maybe not worth renting a car (unless you can expense the rental.)

If you're there for 3+ days, yeah. Get a rental. It'll be your worthwhile. And ditto to Downtown LA. There's nothing to see unless you want to get robbed by hobos or you want to hang around the hipster areas. :fuckthatshit:
