buick forums have some pretty nice members http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/mem...believe-5.html Lucky guy gets a pretty damn good grand national, and alot of the forum members are willing to help out. I doubt anyone on rs will ever help out like this. |
It's just vancouver. |
Anyone here want to give me a free car? |
Read the first few pages. Remind me of the Fiero story. On my volvo forum, turbobricks.com, a man from South America recently lost his son to a flash flood and a paypal account has been setup to help pay for him to finish his 740 which he was supposed to build with his son, as well as funeral costs. There's still some good in the world, nice to see it. |
I give out knuckle sandwiches by request. |
at RS, we give out :troll: |
nice story. grand nationals are sweet. my neighbour has one and that thing sounds like a beast. |
Very interesting, especially the millions of dollars in un-cashed bonds found in the dudes place! Looks like they've really bonded and he's really helping the guy out. The son he never had :) |
What a sweet story, with an even sweeter ending |
wow what a great community.. we have some nice members on rs too.. i dont have a ride and tofu1314 is willing to drive me to the meet on sunday LOL |
^:lol that's an amazing story:D |
Damn, what a sexy car. :drool |
Since I read through most of it, might as well put up a Coles notes version for you lazy asses: 1) Mike owns a small towing company. 2) Gets called to remove a vehicle. 3) Arrives to find a 1987 Buick Grant National, and tows it to his yard 4) Crack head shows up with forged documents, saying "hey that's my car" 5) Real owner is an old guy, let's call him Simmer, calls and says his car was stolen from his house, which he doesn't physically live at any more 6) Mike decides not to charge Simmer any towing fees, and offers to store the car until Simmer's ready to take it back. 7) Simmer decides he's getting old, and Mike should keep the car cuz he was so nice. 8) Mike's like are you sure? and ends up receiving the car. It's one of his top 5 wants. Low mileage as it has been sitting garaged for 17 years. 9) Mike bonds with Simmer, as he works on restoring the car. 10) Simmer lives at his mom's trailer ever since she passed away in 2008, while his own house has sat unoccupied for a few years. It's a dump, but crack heads go in there to search for stuff worth selling. He graduated from UW in 1961, was in the Army until 1971, and worked for Boeing more than 23yrs. Has a bit of a drinking problem though. 11) Mike and his wife offer to help clean up the place - tons of trash, unopened mail, and mold everywhere. But they also find nice clothes, a decent sized ruby ring, and millions of dollars worth of bonds! 12) Mike continues to show Simmer his progress. 13) Mike tries to reach Simmer one day, but can't get a hold of him. Others at the trailer park discover that Simmer has fallen down and is unwell! 14) Mike accompanies Simmer to the hospital - when he is better, Simmer goes to a rehab centre to deal with his drinking problem. 15) Mike continues to restore the car and becomes the son Simmer never had. 16) The two go for a ride in the car together, and Simmer is amazed by it. 17) Simmer has some health issues, but is showing signs of progress. 18) The car looks like a real gem now, and the two will be friends for life. |
