Sharp 52'' LED TV vs. Sony 55'' LCD TV

Hey, I'm in the market for a new tv but not sure which one is better.
Upgrading from a Samsung 46'' LCD TV. This will be the main TV in the house so it'll be doing a bit of everything, including console games.

The options are either the Sharp 52'' LED TV or Sony 55'' LCD TV. Please don't suggest other TV's for more of less money. These two are the best airmiles has on their catalogue.

Sharp Aquos 52" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (LC52LE810UN) > http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...683edfef31en02

* QuadPixel Technology
* Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) Resolution
* UltraBrilliant LED System
* Full HD 1080p X-Gen LCD Panel
* 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced
* Wide Viewing Angles (176°H x 176°W)
* High Brightness (550 cd/m2)
* USB Media Player

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sony BRAVIA 55" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV** (KDL55EX500) > http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...41500fd755en02

* Full HD 1080p resolution
* Motionflow 120Hz refresh rate
* Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE)
* BRAVIA Engine 2 - digital video processor
* Ambient sensor
* LightSensor
* 7 HD inputs
* BRAVIA Sync
* USB input

or there is a Panasonic VIERA 54" 1080p Full-HD S-Series Plasma TV (TC-P54S2). But I have no experience with Panasonic TVs.

TIA

In this Case, Sharp LE810 > Sony EX500

EX500 from Sony is not a very decent TV.
I would rather go Sammy C610 instead of Sony EX500.

As for Panasonic, go with G series or up. Those are plasma are amazing.

Panasonic plasma's are awesome. They have good colour and deep blacks.

Comparing the two I'll say sharp as well the quad panel isn't mind blowing but it does show. The ex500 is mid range and doesn't have much to offer.

Btw ime2006 you still at fs? I quit bb about 4 months ago . I got myself a 52C8000 before I left

For the record, LED-backlit isn't the same as an LED TV.

99.9% of the shit you see in the market right now are LED back-lit

i believe the only TRUE LED is the sony's O-LED

which costs and arm and a leg along with ur nuts

Even with this being true, it would be best to pick the Sharp over the Sony and the Panasonic?

No most stuff you see is led edge lit like the Sony in the OP. Back lit is the one you want because you can turn off individual led's making that area completely black.

Oled stands for organic light emitting diode and the biggest Oled TV for sale is only 11inches right now.

Sharp > Sony in this comparison...I'm abit biased and always stay away from Sony products as I think they are a bit overpriced

backlight > edge lit in terms of quailty

but edge is slimmer
bang for buck samsung / LG

Just came back from BB, looked at a 55'' LG 55LE8500. Looks really good, but is it worth the price of $2499.99 + tax?

Why Plasma > everything?

plasma has 600hz refresh rate and most accurate colour out of the box, no need for calibration

if you have a dark enough room, plasma should be ur number 1 choice

^ mmm, well its for the living room, tv will be angled in 1 corner with the window partially behind it. all other lighting comes from a tall lamp in the room almost diagonal from the tv.

You can get a 54 inch Panasonic 54 inch 1080P plasma for as low as $1299.

Go plasma. Our Pioneer Plasma is in the same location as your room and looks amazing.

LG is Lucky Goldstar.
