Sauder haha. Honestly its' really based off of your extra curricular (based on my experience that is...). Are you a high school student going into sauder? or are you transferring from another post secondary? beacuse it's different for both. However, there are similarities.. Sauder application is pretty much, based off of extra curricular. If your extra curricular is OUTSTANDING and AMazing omgosh! then ya you are in even if you gpa is not that great (to a curtain extent). In high school acceptance I had friends with high 90's that got rejected beacuse they didn't' have extra curricular.. where as some low 80's but with so much extra curricular stuff got in. A freind of mine got rejected to sauder beacuse he had no extra curicular but marks were amazing, he ended up going into Upenn commerce since it was strictly based on marks. Kinda gives you an idea of how sauder accepts people ><'''
:)

I am in graduating from high school this year and hoping to get into sauder. I have quite a bit of work/ volunteer experience. my marks for first term is about 82% lol so just kinda nervous about it. How does it work for like another post secondary institution? is it the same process with like extra curicular stuff?

Guys, am i f*cked?
I'm not really a good student.. that why im in Langara.. but my GPA is currently 1.72..
1.44 first semester then 2.00 for second semester.. I calculated everything and i need like another four semesters for GPA of 3.00 to get average of 2.50 GPA..
Should i just change to Kwantlen College???
Also.. I have problems studying, any tips on HOW to study? (i attend all my classes...)

What area are you in (business, arts)? What's your level of english comprehension?

calvinw 12-09-2010 01:22 AM

Arts, my level of English was a 5 on the LPI

Gilgamesh 12-09-2010 06:44 PM

What area of arts specifically? I'm in history, so I can sort of empathize with you. Have you taken english at Langara yet?

Studying: What I do is read the textbook and write my own notes on important concepts. I don't consider myself smart, so whenever there is a test, I take a week to study. Each day supplementing a concept and building on it until the day of the mt or final. Since you're at Langara, ratemyprof your teachers before choosing them. There are a crapload of profs that cannot teach at Langara.

I would ask people from Kwantlen. I doubt it is easier, but I hear that Kwantlen is more closely associated with sfu in terms of the transfer process.

You can always take GPA boosters, but personally I recommend against them since they could eff you up (credits-wise, and requirements for the program you're entering). Another study tip is to form study groups? I have used them for 2 history courses, and it turned out okay.

seems like school is not what you want to do yet.

I'd get your act together, find out what you want first.

No hard feelings, but not everyone has to rush their education : )

ya... now im wantng to transfer to Kwantlen College and start fresh there, does anyone know if they will let me restart my GPA? (forget my GPA from Langara)

Gilgamesh 12-09-2010 10:59 PM

If you transfer (and if they are transferable) those courses, no. Unless you retake it.

calvinw 12-09-2010 11:05 PM

So if i transfer to Kwantlen then my GPA will still be 1.72? =S

Gilgamesh 12-09-2010 11:37 PM

It depends if you transfer the courses over. But then even if they do, you can always just retake them. What courses did you take, out of curiousity?

GrapeDrink 12-12-2010 01:13 PM

I just wanted to clear up one thing as someone posted that BCAP 1200 was required for SFU business transfer, that is the wrong one. It's BCAP 3200 not 1200 but I do believe BCAP 1200 transfers over to SFU as well but it is not one of the required courses. Now as for Calvin, If you want a reset of your GPA I am fairly sure you basically have to retake the courses or not transfer them over to your new school, I would find out what the process is at the new school you want to go to, for Langara I think if you retake a course they will take the better mark, but some places I've heard blend the two tries so take that into consideration. I think its a better option to retake the courses you got a real bad mark on than for you to bank on getting 3.0 for 4 straight semesters just to raise it back to 2.5.

Gilgamesh 12-12-2010 01:49 PM

it can also be bcap 1237 from Langara.
