RF Cable

Anyone know where I can find RF Cable locally? I need about 75 feet. I've tried NCIX, but they don't carry it.

I'm getting a new HDPVR, and I need this cable to connect it to the closest jack.

Well I'm getting a PVR from Shaw, but I dun want to wait until the 13th for them to drop by to install it, so I thought I would head downtown to pick it up myself, then I figured that I need a really long cable in order for me to install it. If anyone knows if they can give me cables there, that would be great.

Princes Auto has it. XSCargo has it, too. The Source would have some at a price that you'll need to grab your ankles so they can give it to you hard.

Looks like standard coax. Most electronics/av places should carry it. Even places like london drugs or crap tire would have it.

There's an electronics store at Boundary and 1st Ave but the name slips me.

Loss isn't an issue - you're already running hundreds of feet from the street to the house and around to the cable jack. If you called Shaw to put in a new outlet near your TV, they'd run exactly the same cable from the main splitter to the new jack.

That's Active Components at 1st & Boundary. They're not as likely to have it. RP Electronics on Rosser just off Lougheed is more likely to. This is exactly what you need: http://www.rpelectronics.com/rg6u-10...0ft-black.html

Active, that's it.

FYI, Shaw uses repeaters throughout all that cable. Home users dont.

The most I've ever seen is a booster/splitter combo where the cable comes in from the street. Show me a house where they have any kind of amplification after that.

Home depot carries it in bulk were you connect your own ends and premade cable.

shaw just came in to setup hd programming for me last week. the first pvr in the living room wasn't a problem. for my room, i didn't want to run about 30 feet of cabling, so i'm having a tech come in to drill a new outlet for me - $25. try that..

^ lol shaw actually doesnt make a new jack properly

the really just drill a hole and connect the jack to the cable leaving no slack at all in case you need to say change the connector. so for 25 bucks thats terrible IMO

willystyle where are you located I could swing by and make ya one if ya really want

Our old house needed to have some kind of extra power connected or the signal was always staticky (basic cable). It looked like a regular wall wart with a coax jack on it, that fed a short cable to what looked like a splitter used in reverse (with the "in" going to the nearby TV, and the "out"s going to this wall adapter and back to the main splitter for the house). I was never entirely sure what it was (haven't lived there in ages) but the cable was garbage if it wasn't plugged in.
