Sony Blu Ray players compatible with LG tv's?

I got a Sony BDP-S560 Blu Ray player for my b-day and I have connected it to my LG 50PC1DR-UA TV.

The color is way off. everything is grey, and bright yellow. Here is what I tried, all with the same results.

1) Connected the Blu Ray player to where my Shaw cable box is right now.
2) Tried a different RGB colored wire in the back.
3) Connected the Shaw cable box to where the Blu Ray player should be to see if it was that specific connection in the back... no problems with the color on the shaw box.
4) Returned the player to Costco, got a new one, same results.

Is it my TV? Are Sony blu ray players not meant to be played on non-Sony TV's? I'll have to return this second one and get the LG one that is there unless something can be fixed.

Any ideas?

It doesnt matter what Brand it is. It should work on any brand tv. Are you using HDMI???

when i first plugged in my ps3 to my sony tv (xbr6) via component the white had shadow/ghosting issues
switched to hdmi and problem was solved. try hdmi connection.

is there a setting on your TV to swtich settings from HDMI to components?

Read the manual because you are connecting it wrong. If it doesn't work read the manual again.

No not using HDMI. Don't have the cable. I thought that the same cable that I was using for my DVD player would be good enough, but I'll give it a shot.

When I first plug in the Blu Ray player, it has an initial setup that asks me what kind of connection I'm using, whether it is component or HDMI. I'll see if the TV has a setting too.

It's been read and re-read. Hence the reason I am on here, kind of a last resort before returning it to Costco again

Using green/blue/red for video and red/white for audio.

They even give you component cables in the box, why wouldn't those work?

FerrariEnzo 09-03-2010 07:03 PM

im pretty sure theres a setting on the TV to switch to the green/blue/red cables..

Manic! 09-03-2010 08:32 PM

Your plugging in the cables into the right spot. Make sure you don't have the green and blue reversed. I have done it before. I would just get a $5 HDMI cable.

Check if either the BD player or the TV have an option to choose between RGB and Y/Pb/Pr - the two are slightly different and may account for your odd display. My NEC plasma allows you to select between the two on two of the component inputs.

Don't be a cheap ass. Go buy a HDMI Cable. Problem soved and the picture quality will be better.

from the sounds of it you're messing up a connection, or a setting. From the time and gas you've used exchanging the unit you could've bought an HDMI cable already. Just go get a cheap one (or two, since you say you have a Shaw box as well), plug in that single cable and you should be good to go.
