car loosing power while driving

so today im driving on the highway, and all the sudden the car wont accelerate. I step on the gas pedal and it just revs the engine. I pulled over and turned off the car and waited 10 mins before trying it again. I was able to make it to work, but the same thing happened on my way home.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

What should i get checked out?

ruthless 09-03-2010 08:41 PM

what car?

Gh0stRider 09-03-2010 09:09 PM

07 accord v6

ruthless 09-03-2010 09:39 PM

have u replaced the timing belt recently?

SumAznGuy 09-03-2010 09:46 PM

auto or stick?
Stick I might think it is a slipping clutch.
Auto, I'd say tranny issues.

Gh0stRider 09-03-2010 10:15 PM

timing belt no.

its at 76K kms

ya, thinking tranny problem

SumAznGuy 09-03-2010 10:17 PM

Have you had the tranny fluid changed yet?

automatic

tranny fluid should have been changed in the last few services. I take it to Honda

SumAznGuy 09-04-2010 08:38 AM

Take it back to Honduh for warrenty? Sounds like your tranny is slipping which is not a good sign. Don't know if it uses the same tranny as the Oddessey but there was some issues with their auto tranny's.

Gh0stRider 09-04-2010 08:46 AM

someone told me it might share the same tranny as the TL.

tofu1413 09-04-2010 10:26 AM

tranny. typical of the V6's of those years.. regardless. take it back to honda and hope your warranty hasnt expired yet.

when i worked at honda.. tons of those trannies were warrantied, and several cars come in per a week to address the slipping torque converters..

Gh0stRider 09-04-2010 10:45 AM

car didn't make it. I had to get it towed there. I was 2 blocks away lol

tofu1413 09-04-2010 11:03 AM

shoulved gathered some RS people.. and pushed. XD

Honda called, they said its a internal tranny issue. Wont get parts until wednesday.

Covered under warranty...whew!

tofu1413 09-05-2010 12:04 AM

ur pretty lucky then.

i think theyre just gonna drop the whole tranny, exchange it with a honda reman'ed unit, then send your old one back to honda.

haven't really seen many problems with these 07 accord v-6 trans. Problems with the Odyssey torque converters were they were causing a "juddering" or vibration while accelerating. I've replaced many of these converters. Not so much the transmission itself. the latest fix for this problem is an update for the trans ecm programing.

Shitty deal but as I read from the beginning, it was good to see your car was an '07 and still under warranty.

Make sure you report any further issues before it runs out and don't let them put a bandaid on it, so it just barely makes it to the end of the warranty period.
