CPU speed reading discrepancy http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3391/123txj.jpg Bios says : 2681mhz Windows say : 2914mhz the system seems unstable...could it be something wrong? |
The speed changes depending on load. Run Prime95 and see what it says |
Speedstepping is disabled. This is the first time I have seen something like this. =/ |
You probably are not disabling speed stepping properly. What BIOS setting did you change? There is not one called "speedstepping". All the readings are not stock, so I assume you are OCing. The Windows info screen does not refresh very often, so don't use it. |
For my MoBo, you have to disable something else along with Speed Step. I think it was called Halt C1E state or some shit like that |
Just run the CPU at full load while checking the speed |
Orthos was running...so it's full load. It could be the cheapo motherboard, temp is not correct as well. I get 3 diff readings |
Your original screen shot was taken after Orthos was running for a duration of 8 seconds. It's most likely that you opened CPU-Z before Orthos, so the CPU-Z reading was at a low load. Do you really want us to help you, or do you want us to solve a riddle that you made up? Giving advice to you is a waste of time. |
Do us a favor, and post the cause of your problem when you find out. We are interested in learning from your experience. All that has been suggested is "Speedstepping". |
