currently in singapore as i type this and its pissing rain atm

cheapest place will run you a good 40 buck canadian and wont find any place lower than this as this is the standard rate or higher

currently at geylang area and not liking it so much.

quite a bit of culture shock when i first arrived though lol its like down vancouver minus the fact that u cant cross the street outside and have to go underground or the overpass.

shit loads of shopping malls though, to the point where it hurt my feet from walking too much

my advice, come here if u got money like the guy above posted. u gonna see the same shit u see in vancouver just way more restricted

sentosa island has a bunch of nice hotels and the surrounding area includes the marina bay, mandarin oriental etc.

If you want a true singaporean hotel, visit the ruffles hotel as it was the first 5 star in singapore and is currently managed by the Fairmont. The main shopping area is Orchard Road. Everything is accessible by their MRT line so you go to and from destinations is not a big hassle.

I wouldn't suggest staying in the Geylang district as it's their red light district and you'll find a lot of migrant workers in the alleyways as they have no where else to stay.

I didn't find culture shock with Singapore as everyone spoke english so it's very easy to get around compared to other major metropolitan areas in Asia (hk and shanghai).

I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Orchard Rd. It was nuts when I went in May. 36+ degrees everyday and super hot and humid even at night. But it was a fun few days that I was there.

I stayed at the G4 Station, a hostile close to little India. The rates were great, easy to meet people and they offer private rooms.
