Laying Charges

What does a person do if the police won't lay charges, or even present it to the crown?

I thought in BC, it's up to the crown if charges will be layed?

Can I insist it go to the crown?

Can I call the crown myself?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This is in regards to my broken leg in an earlier thread (Definition of consenting fight). The police have decided it was a self defense based on the statements of the only witnesses, the boss (who did the damage) and the employee (supposedly a friend of mine?????). A conspiracy if I ever saw one, and one I am sure I can prove. Note, I do not work for this guy, my so called friend does, and I believe he was told what to say or else, if you know what I mean. Additionally, the police told me their statements were virtually identical.

Thanks

i think you should consult a lawyer instead of asking on RS

i'd suggest going the civil route, the requirements to win a civil case are easier than the requirements to convict in a criminal case.

Talk to a lawyer and see how much money you might be able to get.

+1

You're probably better off going with a civil suit any how as you can sue him for lost wages and impact to health and well being. You need to speak to an injury lawyer who will likely take 1/3 of what ever you win but that 2/3 is money you didn't have yesterday any how.
