Netbook OS/BIOS install UPDATED: INSTALL METHOD WITH USB BOOTABLE I have the Gateway 11.6" EC1803H CURRENTLY running BIOS 1.3(from Gateway website 7/13/2010 release ) and Windows Vista Now I want to upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate x86, I've got it as an .iso file. Now I plan on using this method : WINTOFLASH Question is the order of installing BIOS and Operating System (OS) Which method is correct? 1) Install BIOS v1.3 (windows 7 x86) then OS Windows 7 x86 or 2) Installing OS Windows 7 x86 then BIOS v1.3 (windows 7 x86) Thanks |
Unless you downloaded the iso from an official Microsoft site, the ISO to USB program might not work for you. I used WinToFlash, which works with many windows versions for transferring the install files to a bootable USB stick. http://wintoflash.com/home/en/ As for the BIOS: Install it first before installing Win7. But if there's nothing wrong you don't have to update it. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it.) |
