Fake phones on craigslist? A friend of mine was looking for a used phone on craigslist and he found so many "too good to be true" prices tags. Particularly nokia N900, N96... (going for $150-300) Are there any other models/brands that he should watch out for? I took a quick look on ebay too and was surprised at the influx of china fakes. I told him to get android OS phone if he has data cuz they arent that many fakes. Any other tips for spotting a fake besides the price. |
one look at the software and u can tell if its fake. If he's into phones like most of us here, it shouldnt be hard at all to spot the diff. Alot of them have subtle differences like 2 mp instead of the actual 5 mp or just some small differences in looks. as far as i know, most fakes are nokias and iphones tho and they're pretty easy to tell. |
Usually, "clones" have very different UIs/OSs So before you go buy the thing, familiarize yourself with reviews of what the interface should look like. My brother has a cloned N97 (we knew it was a clone when we bought it in HK). The OS is extremely different from the stock Symbian layout. |
check the battery pack back label info, should be a dead giveaway |
to be fair you can get a new n900 for$375. . . I have a copy n95 8gig model and from first glance it looks real . . . When u turn it on u can tell right away as the sound is different as well as the hands that come together. . .. I have seen the n900 fake and the quality is crap also it advertises dual sim. . . So easy to tell Posted via RS Mobile |
