Shaw HD Box audio syncing problems I notice that the audio on all channels is delayed by a split second. Some channels are more noticeable than others. I also noticed this at my friend's house and he didn't realize it til I pointed it out. Anyone else have these problems and found out how to fix it? Haven't gotten a chance to call Shaw yet. Their waiting time on the phone is ungodly long. When I can, I'll try calling them earlier in the day. |
which HD box do u have? and have u tried power cycling the box? |
what connections are you using? hdmi i'm guessing? try a different type of cable and see if the same problem exist first |
HD PVR. No I haven't but I just googled on how to redownload the firmware and stuff and will try later. Is that what you mean by power cycling? |
is it the dcx3400? if it is.. i think it's a known issue on the box itself.. i don't remember seeing a service alert about it at work ~ but i notice that lag on my boxes too.. it's not noticeable enough to make me care.. and the problem seem to be gone if you hook up ur box thru a receiver and from teh receiver send it to the tv |

is it new or old? the dcx just released like 3 months ago |
Oh then definitely old. I got it last year. //edit Exact model is DCT3416 |
ohh.. just call shaw and get them to zap ur box.. i have some stupid history lesson so i can't help you do it til friday if u can wait haha and don't wanna call and wait |
Thanks for the help. I'll try to get a hold of shaw soon if not, then I'll contact you on Friday. Crap so I just did a hard reset and it downloaded the firmware again but now all it shows on the box is "0" and I can't do anything on it. |
K I called shaw and fixed that problem but the audio problem is still there. In the HD Box in the living room I notice that the audio sync is better. Could it be the cable used to connect to my HD PVR is too long? It's also an old one and not like the thick white coax cables used more commonly today. Could that be an issue? |
go to retail shaw location and ask for a new coax.. free of charge up to 15ft if i recall.. or ask for a new hdmi cable.. but i think tech support have to put a note in ur acc before they give it to you for free.. i mean i have trouble myself obtaining a hdmi cable from the damn ppl at retail -_- |
Is the only shaw retailer in Vancouver the one on west Cordova? Posted via RS Mobile |
there's 3 one in surrey near surrey central. one in pemberton north van and the other one on cordova ya |
hey terkan, can you help me out with my 758? for some reason, my recorded shows don't have any titles.. |
what do you mean? it just shows the time and the channel? i'll look that one up for you.. i had it happened once before dunno how i fixed it.. i don't really wanna flash ur box if i don't have to :P and wats a 758? is that a pace box? sry haha we don't really go by model numbers unless it's the motorola.. and the only 3 digit moto i know is the dct700.. so i'm guessing it's a pace box.. |
Hey terkan I have another problem. I've been having reception problems for a LOT of my channels. Everything is scrambled. I played around with the end of the wire that's connected to my PVR and seems to get better when I hold it in a certain position. So I figured that the problem lies with the cable. My dad found a 30ft one, unused in the garage and I plugged it in but it's still scrabbled. Any idea on what could be causing the problem? The reception on the HD box in the living room is fine as well as the SD one in the kitchen. Could it be the splitter being used? Thanks! |
it's possible that it's a splitter issue can you gimme more detail? like when youo say connecting the wire to ur pvr in a certain position the pricture gets better. are you talking about the coax cable that goes from the wall to the PVR in ur case the splitter to the PVR? if so try by passing the splitter. if that works then it's a splitter issue. but since you said it gets better by holding it a certain position. i'm guessing it's a cable issue. shaw gives out free coax cable up to 15ft. so if u need, just pop down to a retail location and ask for you. better yet. grab the coax cable from ur other DCT that works and try that one to see if it really is a cable problem or splitter problem |

so what does it show instead of having the title? just the channel and time? if you are recording the show with no TV guide ie to be announced that'll happen |

I tried it and I get perfect picture. So it seems it's the splitter than is causing all the trouble. This is my set up. Cable goes form the wall to the splitter. From the splitter there are 3 cables that go to 3 different TV's. One SD box, one HD box, and one HD PVR box. So do you have a recommendation on a good splitter to buy and where abouts? And thank you for your help btw I appreciate it a lot. |
go to shaw retail location they'll give you a high quality splitter free of charge. either the one @ shaw tower in downtown, or the other one at pemberton north vancouver or near surrey central are there no more outlets? you are prolly better off getting a new outlet installed rather than having a cable split 3 times. i usually just recommend ppl to use 1 2way splitter and that's it |
