Shaw HD Box Closed Captioning

Somehow my parents turned this feature on and can't get it to turn off. I went on Shaw's website and they say press the power/menu button but that just turns the damn box off. Any help would be much appreciated. And yes they lost the manual..lol

When the box is off, press the menu button, you will then see the config screen. You can change the settings there.

with ur shaw box on. you have to press power wait menu.. only the new box you can go directly to the config menu by pressing menu with the box off.. the older box are a bit timing specific.. it's power wait menu should be all done in about 2 sec.. so you work out the timing of it lol ya it's a bit gay lol.. but keep trying if you done it rite.. you'll be in a white screen on ur tv and the front of your box will say 16:9 and disable CC1 from the menu and you are good to go.. why they don't put it in the setting menu.. don't ask me..

edit: i have a non-PVR too, and it works the same.
