They BOTH set the kid up for public humiliation...They both acted using their own judgement to out this kid and embarrass him. It wasn't just one, both 2 people acting.

How do you think he got HER computer? Obviously if she's been charged for something, she was involved in it a little more than just opening the door to her room and letting this Ravi guy in. I don't think the prosecution would blindly charge just for the fact that she sat and watched a broadcast.

They both acted in the this, one more than the other. But the point is both their actions caused harm and both their actions were wilful. For those reasons alone, punishment is deserved. Unfortunately, 5 years is hardly a punishment for this. Just because you didn't have the mens rea to have someone kill themselves, doesn't mean you shouldn't be held responsible if they do kill themselves based on your deliberate actions.

I wish there was some way the D.A. could file for manslaughter charges. Instead, I think they're focusing on the fact that it was public broadcast of pornography, without wilful consent. That's a shame.

This guy is the definition of a loser. Probably wanted to fit in real bad so he exposed others and picked on other people's weaknesses and personal traits to give himself more attention. It's a shame that he would instead of fucking this Molly chick in her room, watch gay porn with her.

The guys is a mega-douche no doubt. The New Yorker article didn't really make Molly out to be in on exposing Clementi though. My original impression was that Clementi was in the closet and absolutely humiliated by the webcam incident; the article however paints a different picture. Any which way this is a tragedy; but how twisted would it be if the M.A character wanted to kill Clementi and made it look like suicide? The article mentions that he's in the closet, and if Clementi had casually mentioned that there was a video of them hooking up...

Pretty childish move on videotaping your room mate. But killing yourself over it seemed like such a wasteful thing to do. How many people seen that video? thirty? forty? Move away and start a new life. That reminds me of that 15 year old who killed himself because someone stole his ipod. It turned out there was pictures of his dad touching him on there, but that was obviously a lot more severe.
