Fake rim bolts I'm redoing my wheels and need to replace all the "bolts". My wheels are replicas, so the bolts are just pressed in fake bolts which look like this: http://www.titanium-touch.de/bilder/...uben/d6x10.jpg I found a few places that sell them, yet at 2 euro each! yikes! I need 36. http://www.titanium-touch.de/shop/in...ve-Screws.html If I could source black bolts (aka not fake) I'll just shorten them and tap the holes, so something like this would work too. I have seen them in silver in hardware stores, looking for black (yes I know I can paint them). http://www.forgeline.com/product_ima..._image-134.jpg |
if you tap the holes I don't see why not. |
I've seen the black ones at Home Depot before (picked up a handful for a prior project, actually). It's in the specialty section. |

I would have assumed all hd's would have them, but i picked mine up in Langley. It was in the lazy susan containers. Posted via RS Mobile |
Seen them in Coq. and PoCo. Like these (except the middle one): http://www.carbasics.co.uk/allen_bolt.jpg |
So I tried the Home Depot on Cambie and Terminal in Vancouver - nothing even close, even in other finishes besides black. Will try the Home Depot in Richmond next and start looking up fastener stores, there's got to be some specialty stores in Vancouver. |
Pacific Fastners in Burnaby has a nice assortment |
