Scratched rims repair

I am wondering what kind of finish is this? How to repair those scratches?

Repair? A very intense fire to melt them down.

christiankirana 10-03-2010 10:46 PM

any paint to touch up maybe?

ImportXxX 10-03-2010 10:51 PM

your picture is kinda small, but looks like it just need a sand down and refinish....you will still see it if you touch it up..

Clean, Sand, Spot putty, sand, primer, sand, paint, paint, paint, clearcoat, clearcoat, clearcoat. There are plenty of tutorials online that can walk you though a scratch/curbage rim repair.
If youre not comfortable doing it yourself, give the guys at Western Wheelcraft a call.

I've had good experiences with them before I realized I could do all the repairs myself.

Ah. In that case, I would recommend you get a professional to machine down the scratches.

If those are common OEM rims, maybe searching for a replacement on craigslist or similar might be a more cost effective solution.

thx, will hunt Craigslist then.

well if you want you can paint all four rims to match, it' easier now that you have no tires on there and will be cleaner...just sand it down step by step from 80 grid to get all the scuff off and then finish it with 400 to prime..with silver color sand it with 600 for paint..that's what i did when i worked at a alloy company..but if you dont' have all the equitments it's a little harder

Looks like road salt got under the clearcoat, as opposed to "scratches"?

I was going to say.. just get 2 wheels refinished, and stick 'em on the same side of the car. That's what I did.

Nu-Brite in Surrey/Langley ftw.
