Need help keep window on the track....
 

97 civic, my drivers window keeps coming off one of the tracks when I roll it down. I have to take the panel off just to put it back on...

It is a common problem I've found, but everywhere I've looked says the same thing, Grease it up and hope for the best... Can I buy like a larger track so it stays put of something???

Sounds like you need a new window reg. Should be under $200. Cheaper if you go used.

hmm one of the arms does seem to go up a bit slower on the regulator. I'll check with some wreckers :) thanks

It's a common problem.. Silicon Lube the sides and it should be ok.

Berz out.

I'd try lubing it as Berz's suggestion to try it out first, if that doesn't help then go with a replacement regulator.

there's actually an old bulletin on this from Honda. Depending on your vin, you gotta replace the run channel, or run channel and regulator.
sounds like both in your case

Years and years of slamming the door closing can cause out of adjustment on your window channel and the angle of how your window travels. Here's how to adjust it.

Adjusting the center/front run channels.
-Roll window up
-Pop door panels off
-Follow your hand down the front channel until you reach a bolt
-Loosen and pull the channel closer
-Tighten
Test and adjust until perfect.

Adjusting the angle.
-Roll window up
-Pop out door panel
-Locate a bar that's connected to the regulator held on by 2 bolts. (Not the bolts that hold the actual regulator itself to the door.)
-Loosen the two bolts and "pivot" the bar a cm.
-Tighten.
-Test and adjust until perfect.

This controls how your window travels straight up angled etc. Little out of "angle" would cause your window to slip out of the channel once the window reaches the bottom because it is a lot wider and has some space for it to slip out.

Changing the regulator won't do anything as yours still work.

hey did you ever fix your promblem?

maybe someone can help with mine..i open my panel and it's not the that my window came off the track..i can roll up and down..just when i roll up it will not close all the way..it would try to close but it'll leave like a half an inch gap and all you hear is a clicking noice from the motor trying to close it...

so will changing the regulator fix this problem? and do i need the motor if so?

When you buy a window regulator, a motor comes attached with it.

Yes replacing yours will fix your problem. What's happening now is that the top portion of teeths on the "gear" on your regulator has grounded down.
