Its actually interesting. I wonder how the network even allowed this as its apparently the first time someone else has ever directed the opening sequence. I mean it really has a futuristic, or even slight indication of current issues revolving around network television.

Well, I haven’t been fired yet, so that’s a good sign. I saw the film Banksy directed, “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” and I thought, oh, we should see if he would do a main title for the show, a couch gag. So I asked Bonnie Pietila, our casting director, if she could locate him, because she had previously located people like Thomas Pynchon. And she did it through the producers of that film. We didn’t have any agenda. We said, “We’d like to see if you would do a couch gag.” So he sent back boards for pretty much what you saw.

sarcasm is hard to detect on the internet so...
a ham fisted and overt political/moral message is "hidden meaning" to you? really?

honestly, you couldn't have made that opening sequence any more obvious as to what issues it was referencing

i meant other things within the opening act, obviously not the MAIN picture, but just changes to the characters or Springfield in general, but i doubt it now, since Banksy himself wasn't there directing the whole thing.
