01 accord radio code
 

hey does any 1 know where the radio code can be found in a 01 honda accord ex. I called the dealership and they told me to bring the car in but i was hoping I wouldn't have to take it there.

I just had that problem yesterday after i disconnect the battery i did some research then fixed it, that is a anti theft device used in Honda/Acura.

What i did was i looked inside my vehicle manual there is a card with the "Code" on it. During my research some say check inside the glove and around that area.

Try looking for the code first before you bring it to the Dealer. Some dealer "may" give it to you for free, if they are being an a** they will charge you $100 to retain your code. I got these info from another thread.

should be code in your manuals etc...

I looked through the manual and it was not in it. I also couldn't find the card with the code on it. The dealership person i talked to also said they would give me the code for free if they don't have to remove the radio.

i dont see why it would be on the actual radio as it is supposde to e a theft deterrent.. as in if anyone stole it, they shouldnt be able to get to it.. unless the dealer uses the serial on the stereo to find out the code...

i don't know, but on my card it says "Theft Device Code XXXXXXX" and is a 06 TSX

they use the serial number off of the radio to find the code for it. They radio is supposed to display it if its a 2001 and newer(have to press 2 buttons together forgot which ones tho) so they shouldn't have to take it out but on older cars its on the back of the radio

radio code should be located on a sticker in your glove box. check the sides of the glove box too when it's open.

there was no sticker in there

there may or may not be a sticker in or around the glove box for the radio code and serial number. It's up the the tech who pdi's it if he wants the stick it there or not. I do depending on what the checklist says.
with the radio off, press and hold 1 and 6 button, then turn on the radio (still holding down 1 and 6) and it will flash you the serial number. It will flash the first half for a few seconds the the second half. This trick started around 01 or 02 can't remember what year. If it doesn't work, then you gotta pull the radio out to get the serial number. That's probably what the charge is for. R and r time

So you are saying it is possible to get the code yourself by taking out the radio and look for the serial #? Because when i had the same problem i was looking it up on the internet and someone said the vehicle must run through a program done by the local dealer then the technician will give it code. (not sure if is true.)

that's odd, someone might have removed it. i worked as a lot boy and this was always how we unlocked the radio. i'm not sure about other dealerships, but this was before PDI and even straight from the delivery truck that the cars would have this radio code in the glove compartment.

hell, this is how i unlocked the cr-z demo car so i could listen to the radio while test driving :lol

the radio codes come as a couple of stickers in the glove box. It's up to who ever to stick it to the card and to the side of the glove box.

yes you can get the radio serial by removing the radio. Its written on the side of the radio. No you can't google for the code using the serial. Its on honda's ebiz website. Not open to public

my dad found it, it was written down where you are supposed to fill out the odometer reading on the piece of paper the car came with
