Computer Programs

Hey,

Anyone got suggestions on useful (I know this will mean different things to different people.) programs.

I just formatted my PC and now using Windows 7.

Any suggestions on programs to install?

I usually just work/surf/office and I do play SC2 whenever i get a chance.
Music players? I am using windows security, any other suggestions.

Programs that you would use but I would never think of but might acutally find useful? Shoot it out there!

Thanks!

Ccleaner, spyware remover, defraggler. Those are some of the cleanupper programs I use.

i recently moved from avg to microsoft security essentials. it gets pretty good reviews online, and the footprint is very small. it's almost like an embedded feature of win7, except it isnt :P

if you care about what's on your computer at any given time, Acronis True Image (I guess 2011 should be out soon). I keep an image of a clean install so every reformat takes ~20 mins now, then I load up programs from there. On my laptop, I use it to take images every 2 weeks or so because it has my school work/settings.

i would suggest you stay away from avg if you can. It really slows down your computer. Or that is what i have noticed

virus: MSE
zip/rar: 7-Zip
super notepad: Notepad++
browser: Chrome (FF if you need extensions)
torrents: uTorrent
paint: Paint.NET (easier than GIMP)
movies: VLC is nice and simple
music: iTunes (I might get crucified for this.. but its user friendly..)
FTP: FireFTP (needs FF)
File back up: Dropbox
Multiple Monitors: UltraMon (should be a paid app)
email: gmail

that's all i can think of right now..

MSE
7ZIP
Opera + FF
uTorrent
K-Lite Codec Packs with Media Player Classic, I find MPC to be faster than VLC but I have both, VLC as a backup
CCleaner
Daemon Tools
