New audio system on a budget? I'm interested in upgrading my sound system. Not really looking to DIY any of it. Stock 09 lancer ralliart (exact same interior/trunk as 08+ lancers) Would need everything, hoping for $1,500 after tax, or $2,200 after tax if it includes a higher-end double din navigation unit. (nx700 maybe?) Would preferably want some custom wiring to attach the stock bluetooth buttons/mic if it's possible. As well as the steering wheel audio controls. Is it worth bothering on this kind of a budget? I'm no audiophile but I don't want to bother if its going to be all low quality parts. |
from that budget i'd suggest DIY'ing it to get better gear, but that's just me. also, you can also consider 2nd hand items to help out with the budget constraint. |
PM one of the sponsors and they can tell you if it's possible especially if you're not planning to DIY |

The NX7000 is an older model JVC that is 'ok'. There are newer units that run circles around it! |
we've got a pretty massive sale happening this weekend - definitely worth checking out! |
I guess since there's two other sponsors with massive sigs... I might as well jump in too. Like the others have said I'm sure any of us sponsors can help you. Although $1500 is a slightly small budget for a full system, it is still doable. We could get you into a morel/clarion system for around the $1500 range. |
FYI NX700 is a current clarion model and a nice one at that. |

if $1500 is just going to let me squeak by when it comes to a full job. what would a fairly decent job be? i'd rather wait and save an extra $1000 or two then get something i'll regret later. |
I don't like the new Clarion stuff. Its kind of cheap looking but the price is ok. The Pioneer AVIC-920 is a really nice unit thats got everything. Even the 3200BT with the Navi add-on is a sweet deck. You should take those ones for a test drive. |
The best thing you could do is visit one or more of the sponsors' shops and see what we can do for you. Check out some gear, get some prices and make an informed decision. We all have something different to offer in all price ranges, and none of us will steer you in the wrong direction. |
^^ What he said. Look around at our sponsors and get an informed opinion. SoundWorks SoundsGood Rise Cartunes Revscene chooses its sponsors carefully so members can feel confident in buying quality products locally at a fair price. As long as you can avoid the big box giants and buying grey market products online then you're good to go! |

$1500 would still get something nice that most people would be happy with. It comes down to what you want though. If youre an audiophile or a basshead then I would suggest saving a little more and get what you're looking for. But if you're not too picky and just want better sound, then you're $1500 might just be enough. I've seen it many times when people buy on impulse without really determining what they actually want. They end up upgrading very shortly after the initial purchase and lose money selling their gear. I myself fell victim to it. lol |
Not sure on headunits, but i always like alpine stuff, and as for subs and amp, go with a Sundown Audio Amp, and DC sound lab subs |
Alpine is fine and all, but if you are ever planning on adding a GPS Nav feature now or in the future, Alpine navs suck ass. Just warning you. I've had nothing but problems with Nav units from Alpine. Updates, interface, support, you name it. If you have lots of hair to pull out, then fine......... just sayin'. |
I need a new headunit that has a2dp or can stream music from my iphone via bluetooth. Any recommendations? |

whats the major problem? glitch or not accurate |
Sorry for the thread jack, but what would you guys recommend for a double din unit that has ipod connectivity, and is also GPS upgradeable in the future? Currently looking for a double din deck, and I can't seem to decide on whether I want the GPS or not. |

I'm doing the same thing, but a few months in I think i need Navi lol. |
Yup. Pioneer has three units with upgradeable to Navi provisions. 3200, 4200 and 5200. |
