Auto Image Resizing

Hello,

I feel that the Photography forum, esp the photoshowcase thread, should have the Image Resizing upped from whatever it is set as now, to perhaps 1024x768 or something higher.

That is all.

Will look into it.
if not may make rule for all posters to adjust to size

When you click on the image, doesnt the original sized file pop up?

^

Yes sometimes, but it is a showcase thread, after all.

I hate people who write "that is all" on requests.

It's like they saying to your boss or people who run the company that the request is not so much a request but an implied order. And no more communication should sprout from the request and should just be actioned.

^ or maybe he is just saying that's the end of his request and he doesn't wish to further infringe on the admin's time.

Because people don't know when a request ends...?

I'm relatively sure that once the letters and words stop, the request has ended. In fact, there is this really cool symbol we can use. It is called a "question mark" and looks like this "?".

So something like... Is it possible to resize the images?

After the question mark and the lack of more words after it, we can pretty much figure out that it is the end of the request without saying "that is all".

Just click the image to see the full size version. It's already loaded, so no need to wait for another download.

That is all.

Offtopic.

Calm down. It was a suggestion, not a request. I used "that is all" sorta like 'just my .02".

Anyway, appreciate the reply SkinnyPupp, but I bet if you do a quick survey, people these days run at resolutions higher than 1280, (I use 1920×1080 for example). Pictures look quite small.

Some other forums I browse have bigger picture resizes, so threads like car showoff are much better. I think the setting right now is probably around 720px. Even 800px would look a lot better in my opinion.

Another idea is to have it user selectable in the control panel. I think this should be pretty easy to implement since it's just a script that's run client end?

Just my 02c.

I use 1920x1080 too, but it is silly to assume people run their browser in full screen mode.

800px may be doable, but again, you can just click on images for full size.

Keep in mind most laptops don't run 1080 and I know a lot of users visit RS on them (I'm one of them).

Sure, but most lappys are around 1280x800 these days. Here's an example of one of my laptops running RS @ 1280x800

Anyway, a better idea would be to make it user selectable in the User CP.
The size set right now could be the default with possible options like, 800px, 900px, 1200px, 1600px, and full size.

Turns out the vBulletin mod I posted earlier is not up to date. I don't know what's being run right now. This looks like the latest version.

A new set of options like this obviously would not affect server load. Come to think of it, might be a welcome option in the NSFW threads
