Em2 Engine Swap Hey Guys, I am looking for a shop willing to do a h22 swap into my 2002 Civic. I know its been done at least once before using custom mounts, and I have heard of a shop quoting 3k to do it. I am considering going h22 because a k swap is waaayyy to expensive, screw $600 mounts. I would like to do an at/mt swap in the process. If someone could give me an idea (within a thousand dollars say), then please message me! Very serious about doing this in the near future as my at is dying. Thanks. |
In the end wouldn't it be MORE expensive than the K? I'm just wondering because you're asking about the motor, a manual tranny, an auto to manual tranny, the wiring labor, the CUSTOM mounts, and other misc stuff to get it to fit. |
I'm almost certain it would less. The K requires 7-8 thousand dollars in parts, plus labor. The H motor is a $2000 less than the K minimum, and all misc parts are less as well. I would need to do auto to manual for either swap. I expect the wiring labor might cost a bit more, but k mounts are $600 and I don't think modifying a set of mounts for mine would cost more than that. I could be totally wrong though! |
its actually illegal to swap in an older engine into a new car |
My understanding is that law only applies in states, am I wrong? |
AK I wanted to thank you but cant wtf is that about no you are not allowed to swap a old engine into a newer chassis |
Damn.. Thanks for the info.. I heard a few guys say its legal to swap in older motors in Canada, but they were from Eastern Provinces. |
Don't want to sound like a noob, but I have another question that you guys might be able to answer. I understand that if go K the least expensive approach is to buy a complete car with a DO title, rather than buying the parts individually. Does anyone have an idea who I could purchase the car from, and roughly how much it would cost? |
