Hmm... so you still need to load in the files with iTunes... is there a media player for the iPhone that doesn't need iTunes and can just play files that you dump in manually to the filesystem?

I screenshot it, seems simple enough

it's a little slow to copy a whole 700mb movie but i'm sure you can find smaller iphone sized ones.

10-15 seconds isn't so bad for a movie transfer.

Yeah nvm the first one took a little long and then afterwards it was pretty good

Is VLC necessary?
I use air video to stream all my shows to my iphone...havn't come across any issues at all...very smooth viewing...good enough for me

Okay, I figured it out.

- Install VLC
- Jailbreak
- Install OpenSSH
- Install iFile

Now I can just dump whatever files I want into the iPhone anywhere on the filesystem via SSH, then use iFile to browse to the file location, and open it directly from there.

Tested some video files and it works flawlessly... tried AVI, WMV, MP4... opens up automatically with VLC through iFile.

Also tested some other random file types and was surprised that I was able to open all of them.

Not sure what viewer the iPhone is actually using, but I was able to open up a Word documents, an Excel 2007 spreadsheet, an RTF document, a TXT file, a PDF... no problems.
