Honestly the time it takes IMO is fine at 1 year. The longer the better but the problem isn't time here. It's the examiners who let these idiots on the road so easily. I have a family member who works in and out of ICBC day to day. These examiners fall asleep on Class 5 highway runs, and simply let people pass like it was nothing. I've known people who forget to release the handbrake and drive off, hit the curb while making a right turn, fail to shoulder check every corner and still pass.

ICBC's examiners and their system has to change in order to stop these FOBs if you will from causing so much havoc around town, especially Richmond for obvious reasons.

I agree I know lots of people who have their L's now and arn't gonna do squat until the last month.

most L drivers will practice a month or two before their Class 7N road test...prolonging another year won't make a difference IMO. If anyhing they should prolong the period from 7N to Class 5 as that's when most new drivers are on the road with no supervision.

i had to take my N test 4 times 3 times i got girls who failed me for the dumbest shit and then i got a guy on the fourth try and he stopped writing after 15mins and we got back and he said i did perfect except i was a little to far from the curb on uphill parking

but it amazes me how other ppl get their licenses (mainly brown and asain people) who just make you wonder how the fuck they got their license

It probably took them 40 tries to get it.

LOL, when I took the test in 1992 I was taught by my parents who lets just say didn't necessarily have the best driving habits. They never taught my things like shoulder checking for pedestrians or cyclists when turning right. During my test I did some mistakes like that and the tester was like just so you know you should do that, doesn't take any marks off or anything. There was something else I can't remember what it is now but he basically gives me a perfect score and is like have fun.

Times have changed so much and probably for the better.

Source guys source!

Don't believe anything until I see proof.

seems a little harsh, it's not so much not being able to drive and needing more practice..it's more of the bad habits and pissed off drivers on the road

Luckily I just passed my class 7 test a couple weeks ago, but waiting 2 years before I can go in for my class 5 seems pretty ridiculous.

When I first passed my class7n test, I thought it was ridiculous to wait 2yrs, but the 2yrs go by so fast.

I felt that way too. I called my driving instructor to book a 2hr lesson before my Class 5 just to refresh myself. He was like, DAMN I thought you got your N half a year ago! Has it been 2 years already??

spideyv2 11-02-2010 07:48 PM

How is the class 5 test? harder/easier than the class 7?

ilvtofu 11-02-2010 09:54 PM

1 more year to go till my Class 5, but yeah I don't really care lol

Well for the most part, who the examiner is plays a big part in it. I know a specific examiner at the Richmond ICBC office who purposely instructs people to make a turn at the very last second. No one can make a left turn safely when they are driving in the right lane at the last second before the intersection...

Easier. I didn't get tested on anything other than driving, really. No parallel parking, reverse parking, or three-point turn. The only thing I did that was harder than class 7 was spotting hazards (bike lane, hill, foliage, etc.) while moving

Peturbo 11-02-2010 11:35 PM

^ Same for my class 5 test. The class 5 road test is basically just to make sure you haven't picked up any bad habits.

buddha1 11-18-2010 09:22 PM

so is this legit or not?

mb_ 11-18-2010 09:45 PM

Until ICBC says so, it's not

dL 11-19-2010 11:52 AM

Best move if all c-lai's are required a road test for every renewal of their driver license.
