"Pistol" Grips

I'm looking for either a pistol or pistol-like grip. It needs to be solid (ideally plastic) with possibly a rubber outer grip. I know there are some home tools that have this sort of grip attached in some way but I'm having trouble trying to find one. And, no, it's not going onto a gun. It will be partially hacked up for a DIY project of mine.

Any ideas?

If you're looking for an actual pistol grip, check Lever Arms or Italian Sporting Goods

Stupid question but I wouldn't actually need a firearms licence to purchase an actual pistol grip, right? I may go to DVC fairly often but I haven't bothered getting a licence yet. :lol

That said, I'd hate to hack up a perfectly good gun grip...

Nope you don't need a license to purchase a grip. Jeebus, if you're at DVC that often, why not just go through the licensing with them?

Sheer laziness? :lol

And until I can afford the S&W 460, I wont bother. :p

But thanks, I'll call those two shops tomorrow. Looking to fabricate my own steadicam and don't like the current grip idea I was originally going with.

paintball marker grips would be cheaper jon. :)

As would airsoft ones, but good luck finding those here. :p

I thought about paintball ones, but most of the cheaper/decently priced ones were either made out of material I didn't want to use or were too small/narrow for what I need to do to it.

Are you building your own sled for the steadicam too? haha wow, I think you might have too much time on your hands :p What production are you working on Jon?

best bet for a cheap pistol grip would be off a used/broken power tool, my drill has a wicked pistol grip, as does my angle grinder, nail gun, even my handsaw.

Me? Too much time? Hardly. :lol I'm looking to build two designs... One is a simple hand held that'll be a quick grab-and-shoot (relatively speaking, of course). The other will include the full body harness, dual-spring setup, etc., etc. That one will be used more to run in conjunction with a Glidecam for a buddy's production house. The pistol grip is for the gyroscope on the handheld device. It'll make sense once you see it.

I'm actually not doing any official productions right now (the industry burned me out a while ago, so I needed time to recharge :lol) but I am starting up a new monthly film project for Revscene for next year... ;)
