is my amp big enough? I have a kicker 750.1 amplifier powering 2 10" type r's in a bandpass box and it works great and plenty of power to spare. Would I be able to power 4 or 6 type r's in a sealed/ported type box??? I want to power atleast 4 type r's... will this work?? I have a yellow top battery, 20farred capacitor, 2guage wiring etc. |
Why so many subs? You could get just as much SQ/SPL out of two Type R's as you can with 4-6. As long as the enclosure is built properly and the placement is correct then its less about quantity and more about proper design. Also, 750 watts divided by 6 is going to greatly underpower those subs especially in a sealed enclosure. You would need at least 300-400 watts per sub to get any kind of reasonable results. |
i already have 2, and I can purchase 4 more from a friend for $200 for all four. Her amps all got stollen and is preggo with twins and is getting out of stereo's. cant pass the deal up. |

dude are u sure you have a 20 farad cap? what cap is it?. do you mean 2? I'm running Alpine PDX1000 on 2 type r's in 4ohm and I don't use a cap. stock battery and alt nothing else. no dimming yet. I did have 2 farads on my old car stereo with components and 4ch. mind you I don't blast it like I used to anymore.... gone to wanting more quality in my boom. |
A cap is more of a marketing tool than anything. With less than 1000 watts on a stock alternator (class D power), you will never need a cap. I am running 3K+ and don't run a cap at all. Its all about the batteries and proper grounding. |
Alpine R's which i had, are either 500rms or 600rms, so i feel like you'd be underpowering them quite a bit |
the more the merrier i always say....right mike?....bigger is always better and if you can fit 4 more in there....you'll have a dream machine....yeah...a f'n nightmare...lol you really should use the KISS system Keep It Simple Stupid 1 amp...2 subs...cleaner and louder..less distortion and less CANCELLATION!!!!! |
