application for adjoutnment filed by officer. how do i stop this?

So here's the story. I have court in 2 weeks, I will be taking unpaid time off from work to attend.

I just received a notice of application for adjournment from the officer because he is not able to show on the original court date.

i have the option of showing up to the adjournment to oppose it, but what do i need for the court to reject the officer's adjournment request?

thanks

*edit* this is for a speeding ticket from last year.

you think that's enough to can the adjournment?

You could oppose his adjournment the same way that he might if you asked for one.

You will generally find that the courts will allow either side one adjournment. Since you have two weeks to arrange ahead of time, I would imagine that you will still be able to work and be paid for it on that day.

To be successful, you would probably have to convince the court that this is a hardship for you and that you could not possibly avoid this hardship if the adjournment was granted.

I never heard of the court opposing the first application for adjournment for either Crown or disputant. As Skidmark says, the system is set up to accomodate it and 2 weeks notice will very likely be considered adaquate. Disputants have been known to call in the morning of the trial and get one...so the Crown has given you enough notice in your case.
