I think he was trying to pass as a guy who actually posses a US citizenship?

From the news it says he swapped passport with the guy who actually holds that passport.

I know for a fact that people do try to takeover identities of a diseased US/CA citizen abroad to come to work in NA legally. They are quite a hot commodity in black market.

I didn't read the whole article from CNN.

The question is, why does he have to do all this work? To my knowledge... To get pass HK customs, you only need to swipe your HKID with fingerprints. There's no visa involved to visit Canada. If this guy is restricted to travel, then he won't pass the first stage going into the restricted area anyways.

I don't see the point for him to wear a damn mask, when he can just fly here, "visit" and just claim refugee status after his visitors status expires.

maybe he just owes money to the triads lol

If that's the case, I don't think Vancouver was his best choice.

Which ones? Ebola? Polio? Lupus? Do they commence the takeover during the final few weeks, or is it a post-mortem thing?

I'm sure he wasn't planning on getting caught. He probably only used the refugee status thing as an excuse to not getting sent on the next plane back.

Good luck to him getting it fulfilled though. I thought you had to provide proof that you being deported would mean timely death or some sort of immediate threat (like being part of a religous sect that is being persecuted or something?)

I'm quite curious of this process as well. I'm not really well versed since its my parents who are the ones who emigrated here.

Can people just land on Canadian soil and declare "refugee" and that stalls their deportation process. And by I mean declare, just verbally say the word without any form of substantion of validity?

He could've said he dressed up for halloween lol

UPDATE: 8 people involved and arrested in connection to this.

twitchyzero 01-10-2011 09:40 AM

not surprised...there's no way he could've gotten on that plane without help from airline staff.

El Bastardo 01-10-2011 10:08 AM

This is Canada. He could be wanted for setting Dafur war orphans on fire and grinding live puppies into sausage and he'd still get to stay.

I predict he'll have his PR card before Valentines Day
