i thought it was odd that my phone didn't wake me up this morning. it wouldve been a disaster if I had to work.

"Apple has failed to fix a Daylight Savings Time bug in the iPhone’s Alarm app that has already disrupted mornings for many users in Europe and Australia. Even though your iPhone’s internal clock may automatically fall back an hour Sunday morning, a bug in the Alarm app causes it to ignore the Daylight Savings change, which in turn leads certain alarms to go off an hour late.

The bug specifically affects repeating alarms that are scheduled to go off on certain days. Alarms set to repeat every day, or one-time alarms, are reportedly unaffected by the bug.

Apple recommends that users delete existing repeating alarms and rely on one-time alarms until after the Daylight Savings change to Standard Time (2 a.m. EST, Sunday morning). After November 7, you can recreate your repeating alarms. The glitch will be fixed permanently in Apple’s upcoming iPhone operating system 4.2 update, which is slated to land later this month.

European users (and some US users, inexplicably) dealt with the Daylight Savings Time bug last week, which gave Apple only a few days to release a fix in time for the US. Still, Apple doesn’t have much of an excuse — users in Australia and New Zealand first reported the bug several weeks ago.

The company likely doesn’t consider the issue big enough to warrant a software patch of its own, but I’m sure many unhappy iPhone owners who rely on the device as their only alarm clock would disagree."

at least it was the fall time change and not the spring one. trust me, getting up on "time" and arriving at work "on time" only to realize that you're an hour late sucks. :p

You;ve got the saying itself wrong, it's "Spring forward, Fall back." ;)

I taught my best friend this just last night. Always thought it was common knowledge along with using one's knuckles to remember how many days are in the months. :)

Yet another reason not to depend on the alarm clock on a phone. I remember reading somewhere (think it was CNN) once that some guy even has a daughter cuz his phone calendar was off and resulted in his wife eating the wrong pill or something like that. :lol

I have no idea why the hate, either. I guess some people have to loosen their tie a bit. I remember way back when, I had some people whom I disliked at first. After awhile, when you get to know them and their little quirks, they're cool. My problem is that my sense of humour is off centre a bit. Must be the age thing. Anyway, I like you.........(in a non-sexual way). LOL In fact, I like everybody. Except maye that Berzerker dude........ j/k. J/K. He's a mod now, so I gotta watch it or I'll get points.

All I know is that in late June, there is enough light out to be playing tennis until just after 10pm... and yesterday it was too dark to play by like 5:30pm.

Fucking hell........... I don't have an iPhone, but my new iPod touch's alarm did not go off this morning. I have the alarm set to go off at 6:30 am on weekdays. The only thing that woke me up this morning was the daylight. I usually leave at 7 am. Well, I woke up a 7 am, god damn it.

jeedee 11-09-2010 10:35 PM

Man it got dark out today at 5pm...it looked like 11pm

That's daylight savings for ya lol
