why did he pull this perfect running motor?

k3n 11-09-2010 03:37 PM

as it says in the thread... he brought his car into the shop with a minor problem.. and he came out with a jdm engine swap... when i questioned him WHY he NEEDED a SWAP? he told me the clutch fell off. Which doesn't warrant a engine swap... but the shop convinced him he needed one. The worst part is.. I found the shop from revscene sponsors at the time... If I knew he was gonna get screwed, I wouldn't have recommended the shop!

Just my advice, get a compression test done, and maybe even inspect a couple of the main bearing/rod bearings.

Make sure it's in good condtition before you sell a bunk engine to someone.

Not trying to be a dick, but I can promise you the sale is going to be a lot easier if you can give some evidence that the engine is in good condition.

This is a ten year old engine after all, and perhaps supply the actual VIN for the engine (found on the bottom of the block, near the front of the oil pan/header/ac mount) so that way potential buyers can confirm it is not stolen and they can carfax the VIN to verify KM.

The engine serial # is cannot be traced to VIN, and wont come up as stolen unless it was reported to police.

2k will seem like a bargain when someone needs this engine, its a good price, but to get it sold, provide some some pics, comp test numbers, etc. It will help a lot.
