Local shops

Okay, so I imagine this question has been posted a few times before but I'm unable to find anything by searching.

What local stores do you guys recommend? I used to deal with Leo's about ten years ago but it seems like a bunch of their prices were a bit high compared to what I'm used to. I need a shop that deals with accessories (brands like Avenger and Manfrotto for automotive rigs) yet also carries video equipment. Oh, and they need to have a fantastic selection of light gels and diffusers.

Ideally the closer to Langley the better, but I'd rather deal with a friendly, knowledgeable shop even if it means driving a bit further.

Suggestions?

Photo Expert out in Delta is the only decent camera store outside of Vancouver.

You can always come to Beau Photo and come talk to me or Niforix. As for light gels & diffusers, we only stock the CTO, CTB & some diffusion panels. Any other colour we can get in for you.

For gels I went to this place in Burnaby:

They were more of a video place, but I didn't look around too much as I don't do video. They may have some of the other things you are looking for.

Yeah Photo Expert is pretty good, I shop there sometimes when I'm at my parents. Their prices are pretty competitive too

Yeah, Cinequip caters to the movie industry. Kyle, do they have good stock of gels? Are they LEE or Rosco?

It was a couple years ago, but they had everything I wanted in stock. She pulled them out of drawers in a large cabinet and it looked full of color choices. I believe mine were LEE, as I also got some free sample packs, but I can't really check that. They list both as suppliers on their website.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll check out those shops this weekend. And Senna, if you're working this weekend, let me know. :)

We're not open on weekends. :(
