Future Shop: Hi Res Macbooks? So i'm gonna be buying a new macbook with some store credit I have from FS and I was wondering if anyone's bought a macbook pro from FS recently, that has got the HI RES/anti glare screen?? Their in store display models don't specify the screen type, and I've talked to a couple of their reps, and as always they're fucking useless. Any info would be helpful. |
dont think they sell the customized macs at FS.. spend ur store credit on maybe a nice sleeve for ur mac |
All apple displays are made by LG. This neat fact probably doesn't help you tho lol |
had to do it.. get someone with a student card and save money on the mac at the applestore probably saves u money on the hires screen |
Yeah it's a lot of store credit so I gotta get it from fs. Really wanted a hi res screen.... |
If you're not heart set on a mac, you should check out the HP Envy. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...cab92ebf67en02 |
Don't give Future Shop a cent of your money. They're lying bastards. |
lol they are only lying in terms of their service plans. for products, they are as geniune as anywhere else. and no FS wont carry custom apple orders. they only have certain models (usually what you see on apple.ca) since it is part of their SKU. If you want the HD models, ur gonna have to order from apple. the envy like a previous poster said, the 14" model has a high resolution screen, i5 processor, decent ram/hd/vcard for less than 1500. |
Hmmm ive gotta see the envy in person. But I'm pretty sold on the unibody mbp design, and ever since I switched from pc to Mac ive been a happier person :) |
The Envy only looks like a MBP. It's much thicker and doesn't feel anywhere as well made. If you do a lot of photo editing, you should get the matte screen for sure. I have the 17" MBP unibody, and the matte screen really helps if I am working in a cafe, or I have to show clients some of my work at a cafe. You can live with the glossy screen if you work at home in a dark room too, but reflections from your windows or even closed venetian blinds can be a pain in the ass. http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/mul...=7-10041-10146 |
^that is very interesting so did you get the high resolution screen and how much screen real estate does it add? |
The screen on the 17" MBP is 1920x1200. You can't get any other resolution. You can have two full page word documents on the screen at once side by side. The one thing I had to get used to was how small the default font sizes were on websites due to the high resolution, but that can be remedied by increasing the font size in your web browser. The screen is awesome for photo/video editing, and watching 1080p video. The colour is amazing, as MBP screens have a very wide colour gamut, meaning it can display more colours than all but the highest end Windows laptops, which will have similar gamuts. |
BTW I was @ oakridge apple store and noticed they had a few anti glare macbooks on display, go check it out, you'll know it's the one when they have a silver trim around the screen instead of the black |
The envy is metal, but not a unibody. personally, i would get a regular MBP or envy and get an external monitor if you plan to use it at home most of the time. you can get a nice IPS monitor for <300 nowadays. |
Matte and glossy are pretty easy to distinguish even without looking at the bezel. Posted via RS Mobile |
I personally love the matte screen my macbookpro has a matter screen its so nice |
