NCO debt collection

I got a 2nd letter from NCO financial services today about a small debt ($100) that I forgot to pay because the letters were sent to my old house instead of my new one. (Tenants from the old house just gave em to me today)

I googled the branch and everyones saying that these guys are assholes and what not. Should I ignore the debt? Since the website it linked on its website www.ncofinancial.ca cant even be found on the internet and doesnt seem to be really legit.

The only way I could pay them is to call them and give them my credit card number, which I am pretty much reluctant to since newer "old debts" might start popping out again once I gave em my credit card number.

i have had collections from NCO as well and they can be pretty annoying but your question of whether you should pay or not depends on what was the debt about and how much is it?
from what i recall, anything less than $100 is not affected on your credit but anything over is. Dont quote me on that but this is just what i hear.

if you want. go get a prepaid visa and pay it off using that

correct anything under $100 won't be added to your credit file. Now they are willing to settle your account if you are worried I would offer them $50 take it or leave it and see if they do take it. Make sure you get a letter saying they will settle it so you don't get screwed over.

They can't pass out your credit card information, there is nothing to worry about at all yes it's collections but they have to a very strict policy they can't give any information out.

But is it money that u really owe them? If that's the case, shouldnt u pay up regardless?

If it's some bs admin fee, then yea, ignore it.

hmmm... first you claim to forget to pay a small debt even though you mentioned that it was the second letter. Then you say that the debt collector is shady as well as the place you bought the blurays from and as such, you don't want to give you cc because you are afraid of being ripped off. Well then you should be carefully because if Karma exists, you'll probably get ran over by a car or something for being such a dishonorable cheap little bitch.

Used to work at a place similar to NCO. Anything under $100 you can forget about it. I believe different companies have different settling percentages. But just be aware, settling does not get you free and clear. If you ever want to use their service again (say a Rogers or tells account), you'd have to pay the remaining balance. I believe most companies will settle for 60%.

If you want nco to stop haggling you, next time they call ask for the reps license #, and tell him to "cease and desist", and threaten him to write him up to the attorney general.
