do you only have one laptop that is not connecting and others working fine? Does it show signal strength?

Can try changing the encryption type on your wifi access point... or try updating the driver for your wifi adapater and/or updating firmware on your access point.

Sometimes there are just weird problems that cause connectivity issues for wifi between certain clients and access points.

Are you using a Mac as well?

Are you able to connect to other access points?

try changing the SSID or reset the router and see if it connects with no encryption. happened to me once because my laptop already had connected to a network with the same name as the one i was connecting to at home...for some reason it wouldnt give it another name like dlink2 or w\e. resetting the router with no encryption and all the cables plugged in should let u connect and help u diagnose what happend. your laptop should have a light for the wifi adapter does it toggle on and off when you switch your wifi adapter on and off?

are you using Windows 7?if so you can try this:
go to control panel>View network status and tasks>manage wireless networks
then select your home network, right-click on it and remove it

then try to connect to it normally and it should ask your for the password again
