2nd monitor or video card?

Hey all,

I'm just thinking of either getting a 2nd monitor or video card from ncix. Now my price range for both is about 160 each. I will eventually get one or the other on boxing day, but what do you think I should purchase now?

I'm thinking the monitor because I doubt the H233H which is currently on sale would drop lower than what it is now on boxing day. It's the exact same model as what I have now, and I would like to do the dual monitor setup.

On the other hand, I don't really NEED the monitor as much as I would like to upgrade my vid card (9800GT). But I figure by boxing day vid cards would be like dirt cheap and I'd get more bang for my buck then.

So, any opinions?

We can't decide for you which is more useful.

You already said yourself that you would prefer to upgrade your video card over an extra monitor that you wouldn't take advantage of, so why not go with the video card?

you can say that about both items, or electronic gadgets in general.

i'd say go with a video card upgrade because the 9800GT is getting dated if not already.

Saw the ATI5770's go for 119.99 after MIR

i find that dual monitor is quite useless, unless its for work related stuff. etc
its not like u can look at both screens at the same time.
id hold out on both until boxing day,

it depends on how much you multi-task - dual monitors you might think are useless, but you don't have to be doing work related stuff to make use of it.

trust me, once you get dual screens, you won't go back. I run dual screens at work - and when I get home, it bugs me that I don't have that much screen space. even if it was just one for browsing the internet, the other for chat windows / iTunes, etc... once you get used to having more things open - you'll hate having to switch between windows or minimizing...

If you buy a quality monitor now, the prices of whatever video card you're looking for will most likely decrease. If you buy a video card now, the majority of prices for monitors will remain the same. I would suggest the monitor unless you really need more gaming performance out of your video card.

Video card is more important for gaming. The dual monitors is more for multi tasking... or better multi porning.

ended up getting the monitor. It's partially for work so it has increased my productivity.

The vid card i'll wait til boxing day. I highly doubt there's much they can discount on monitors already on boxing day.

I bought an H233H for 150.00 plus tax, so now I have 2.
