depends on your workplace. it depends on how many employees there are and how far away medical help is.

some require level 1 and others level 2

level 3 is for like construction sites type places, where medical help is far away.

Yeah you need to know how many people you work with and if you have hazardous materials on site and such.

For an office it's generally lvl 1 + CPR (which is a separate class in some cases), unless you're in an abnormally large office or a call center or something.

(the second number is the number of employees on shift)

* Level 1 first aid kit
* Level 1 certificate

4 51-100

* Level 2 first aid kit

For MOST workplaces, you do NOT need the STANDARD First Aid, the only jobs that I've seen that requires it are emergency care workers (paramedics, rcmp constable, firemens, etc).

So your answer is Occupational First Aid. In terms of the level, you need to determine which industry you work in and how many employees are on-site. For most office and retail, most likely a Level 1. In construction and other "dirty" industries within 20 minutes of medical aid, you will most likely need OFA-2. For other jobs and industries where medical aid cannot be reached within 20 minutes (outside of Lower Mainland, Interior BC), you must have a OFA-3.

FYI, All OFA courses have CPR and AED components in them now.

I took OFA 3(have recert for 8 years).....it is only required when a hospital is over 45 mins away....but i like the hirer level because it opens up lots of doors for different jobs!

But I have my OFA2 for the last 4 yrs....looks good on the resume; just make sure you can remember all your learnings...because it all goes out the window when something major happens.:)

Not all work places will pay for it, especially if it is not a requirement. Some security jobs claim it is recommended to have, but not required.

I just passed my OFA level II test today. 5th time I've taken the test (had my FA ticket 8 years) and each time I learn new stuff. Supafly is right though. Once something serious happens, it is hard to remember what you were taught.
