1. All Telus digital STB are HD capable as long as you have a HDTV you can view HD content. 2. Telus PVR is twice the size space wise 3. Telus has 2x the HD channels that Shaw has ( I don't actually have a HDTV so I can't say to the quality of these channels ) 4. Telus will give you a wireless N Router and won't charge you for it. EDIT: Nah, I wish I took my display pic but I could never convince any of my gf to try stuff with another girl. :( |
So I've finally got charged a big bill cause I forgot to call before the deal end. Anyways I called and just as expected she told me about an Optik upgrade. I wouldn't call it an upgrade, well not a complimentary one, since I have to pay more. She didn't give me any deal pretty much except if I go contract I get the PVR rent free. That's like an earth-shattering $5 or $10... I called Shaw to see what's up and the rep said there's a 6mo special bundle for $80ish. I asked if there's any deal if I stay longer, and he said Shaw never does contract. I don't remember is that's true. So I can switch after 6 months, he even said. So I will call back Telus and see if I can do a PM with the Shaw price plus a free credit for my TV until upgrade. She promised free credit off my previous bill on TV charges and so on until I get Optik. I won't go contract yet though. Maybe I can even delay the upgrade and get free TV longer? :P I'll see if Optik works as well as they claim. Frankly, claims and promises from these big companies don't mean shit! Then I will consider another jump to Shaw if they give me a deal later on. I am sick of jumping between the 2 annually just to get best deals. If anyone can give me a fairly decent price I'd rather just stay. I suspect Optik and current Shaw are probably more or less the same performance? I have non HD services and 15Mbps. (Actually both reps said mega "byte" per second... I'm such a nerd!) |
I am also moving some time next year. If all else point to Vancouver, I know what I'm getting! :) |
It looks like the home phone is the biggest rip off, but I HAVE TO keep the number even though rarely use it. I just let all messages direct to my answering machine. What are better alternatives? I saw these Smart Plan from Rogers... something about $1 + $.05/min usage. $21 plus tax, which is what Telus and Shaw would charge me = 7~8 hours if $.05/min. I don't think I use more than 4 hours per month. |
