HELP!! Can't drive at night!
 

So here's the deal.
I have a 1997 Civic SI.

Driving home tonight and in the midst of traffic, my headlights turn off. A couple seconds later, my ABS light comes on and stays lit.
I depress the clutch and the ABS light goes off and the headlights turn back on.
As soon as I step on the gas pedal, the ABS light comes back on and my headlights turn off again.

I just kept driving until I got to a gas station and popped the hood. Checked voltage on the battery and it was normal. Looked around and there was no water near any electrical parts, so I kept driving.

The ABS light came back on as my lights turned off. Then, my radio turned off, but when I depressed the clutch, everything went back to normal until I touched the gas pedal or put the car in gear.

I basically just drove home coasting as much as I could so people could actually see me through the rain.

Has anyone had this problem before or has any idea what's wrong?!?!

what was the voltage on the battery? its most likely alternator.. turn on the car, turn off loads (heater, radio etc) and check the voltage of the battery.. should be 13.6-14 volts iirc.

Check for shorts and loose connections inside the car. I don't think it's a battery issue. If it was battery or alternator, your car would stall. Anyway, if you want it looked at feel free to contact us.

sounds like a short or bad ground. check the grounds because alot of electrical components share the same ground. any accidents? recent paint job done?

Check if the problem persists with the engine off, just a suggestion to see if it has something to do with the clutch switch etc.

Forgot about this,

For those wondering, the voltage regulator was fried. sending too much current to certain components and not enough to others. Too bad it's located inside the alternator, had to get a new one on.
