So the old lady decided to fail Air Care and I have been shopping around to get it fixed.

I was looking at the Air Care website looking through their accredited repair centers.

One of them jumps out at me which has a high success rate. But really, I would rather ask the people of RS to chime in on a good repair shop or maybe a good (bad?) review of the following two places.

One of them is Excel Fuel out in Langley and the other is J-Kam Auto in Surrey.

I called Excel and they said they had a "package" for $120 to check the car top to bottom. I mean, the car passed a couple of years ago and I figure something small might have made it fail.

And for the people wondering (I don't have the results with me atm but I will update the thread when I get it) Hydrocarbons was off the charts so that was a fail. CO was borderline from passing and the NOx was fine.

i can't speak for shops in your area but i did visit the shop with the highest success rate in richmond. long story short, i passed no problem and i could have saved myself a good chunk of money had i gone to them in the first place. i'm glad that i had noticed the success rate of the shops before i chose one because the place i was thinking of going to at first had a pass rate of only 73%.

Yeah, I just wasn't sure as to how up to date those rates are. I will probably spend the initial cost to get it fixed and be done with it.

i probably would have saved a few hundred bucks had i gone with them from the beginning; also a lot of headache and stress :lol

Most Honda/Acura vehicles don't need extensive work to pass aircare after failing. If your car is stock, replacing spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor can most likely fix the problems. Dependant on if your cat convertor has ever been changed, that may be another possibility. If you want to save a bit and do a DIY, we can provide you with brand new parts at good prices. make sure you have your timing checked too; that's what was wrong with my EF.

HC is unburnt fuel, so its probably ignition related. check your sparkplugs, wires, timing for starters.
