| TV Advice/Recommendation?
I'm looking to buy my parents a TV around Christmas. I'm probably going to wait for Boxing Day sales to maximize the value though.
But I want to look for specific tv's as opposed to just buying the cheapest deal on the market come Boxing Day.
I'm looking at 2 models right now. Both Sony's.
KDL-46HX701
KDL-46NX701 (710?)
The price difference isn't much between them. the HX is selling at futureshop for $1299, and the NX is selling for 1399 at the Sony Store...
I really do like the Monolith design these tv's have, and I know that their picture quality is good as well... But does anybody have their own feedback on these models? Any equivalent models in other brands they want to recommend?
I'm trying to search online and can't find any reviews or comparison sites. If anybody has a recommendation, I'm all ears.
I could go up to 52", but size isn't a huge issue for me, I'd rather have a good 46" rather than a mediocre 52". But this is the price range I'm looking at.
Thanks in advance |

Even though plasmas have better blacks and better for motion, you gotta take your environment's lighting into consideration.

Plasmas are best viewed in dark locations, and for watching movies and sports.
LCD TVs are best for general tv-watching purposes, and in brighter environments.

Considering Vancouver is grey most of the year, plasma should be fine even in living rooms with a lot of windows.

It is in a very bright living room. There is a massive bay window next to where the TV is... - there are shades, but my parents LOVE to have tons of light flooding in.
I like Plasma's, but I think for them - an LCD will be better. They're going to be watching general TV, but I do want something 120Hz or higher, so when I come over to watch sports, it'll be ok for that....
