The Rascalz are the best hip hop group to come out of Vancouver. The artists in this thread are just trying to cash in on the gangsta image.

i've heard of a handful of local rappers over the last few years and the pattern is either:

-local rapper is not that good, but actually original and often signed to a label. Flaw is they're not actually local. They immigrated to Vancouver because there's no competition, usually in the last 3 years.

-local rapper is very much local. Flaw is they suck balls, are total wannabe gangster douchebags and think that people have some sort of vision of East Van as a ghetto.

"Gangster rappers" should realize that most people from vancouver will half-jokingly call east van "the hood" in relation to better parts of vancouver, but will know that East Van is quite a nice and safe place to live, especially when compared to a REAL ghetto.

I like the Rascalz but I like Swollen Members more, at least some of there stuff. It's hit and miss with them. IMO they were better when Moka Only was working with them.
