Scratch repair from hit & run
 

So some faggot parked behind me decided to scuff my car and drive off when I was parallel parked at a restaurant tonight. :swear:

Not enough to damage to claim it or anything, but still... :fuuuuu:

Got home and used:
M105 on 4" yellow (2 passes)
M205 on 4" green (2 passes)

I think I could of polished more of it out, but I don't want to sacrifice the clear since I'll be keeping this car for a while.

I plan to use some touch up paint for the larger gouge after winter. If all else fails might repaint. Anyone know how much painting a section of the bumper like that might cost? If so please suggest a reputable shop. Thanks

ICBC Quoted me 585$ for it all. this would include the removal of the bumper, repaint the section (their 2 Part Process) and baking and stuff...

I have the same thing on my car. I was quoted almost the same amount.

Not worth $600 for a few scratches IMO.

I've seen their work. Looks ok, but the amount of overspray from painting outdoors is not good.

Exactly, even though I could pay the $300 deductible, the fact that I have to pay out of my own pocket for someone else's wrong doing pisses me off.

I've seen Colorworks' jobs, you could spot the difference in colour if you were blind.

Spotting just once section of a bumper is usually not recommended, unless it curves off into a small area, so the blend isn't as noticeable.

The quote ICBC gave you was probably at an Express Shop rate. If you bring it to a non express, ICBC accredited shop, you'd probably be looking at more between $300-$450.

I have yet to see a touch up guy that does good work. I would leave it like that before letting one of those guys near my car. Pay the $300 deductible and have it fixed properly. Make sure they remove the bumperskin so its painted off the car. That way its painted all the way to the edges so the clear won't peel back and there won't be any overspray on your car. :)

You sure they can paint just a section of a bumper? I thought usually they have to paint the whole thing to have the colours blend nicely.

That's what i thought as well. On a side note, i guess just leave it at that and wait for someone to rear end you if you don't want to pay the $300

wet sand polish will take care of it

It appears the damage has gone through, wetsanding that would be pointless.

If the bumper were to be painted, they wouldn't put colour on the whole bumper, they would blend within the bumper, but still apply clear on the whole thing.

Exactly what I was told when I requested sent an inquiry to a shop.

:lol I did that with my front bumper. Waited 2 years until someone backed into me. Got everything fixed including all the damage from family members. :D Still had to pay deductible, but it was way less than the $2400 quoted by the repair shop.
