HD webcam

Anyone here use one? How does it perform on MSN/Windows Live Messenger?

Im planning to get one for my brother for christmas since hes overseas and always webcam with his son thats currently living with me

but the thing I'm scared of is that the HD quality does not work well with MSN/Windows Live Messenger since the quality of my current webcam varies depending on the connection between my brothers side (HK) and my side (Vancouver).

so some input would be nice,
Thank you

Don't know much about HD Webcams but have you tried video chatting over Skype/Google Video Chat (I think its built in from Gmail web interface too)? Both don't take too long to set up

I've always found MSN's video chatting not so great cause it often Lags and stutters

You're better off with Skype.
It's much better.

The video chat in Gmail is pretty good. The sound quality is better than Skype, when used without a headset. I mainly use the built in mic on my laptop.

If you install the beta codec in google labs, you can get high quality video. This is based on the 1.3 megapixel webcam on my laptop. Have not tried it with a "HD webcam".

I would use Skype, I know Google records the free phone calls so idk what they're doing with video...
