A trip to North Korea

Not sure where to post this exactly but since there have been some recent issues with North Korea I decided to post this here. In the past few months I've grown some interest into North Korea and came across this page. Basically, two guys visit North Korea and document their one week visit. Its pretty interesting to see how Pyongyang is different compared other major cities (no advertising, no cars, incredibly clean). Anyways, all photos and descriptions are in the following link:

When you get past the thought that it was built by a brutal dictator you kinda realize how "nice" it is.

Vice Guide says otherwise

thanks for that, pretty interesting, and they have alot of photos that the vice guide seem to have been forbidden to see

the only thing is, alot of those photos seem to be stock footage, or very old photos compared to the others, kind of weird

apparently all their footage is from 2004

From the pictures, North Korea looks like a great place to go for site seeing.

check out national geographic's documentary on north korea, 2 undercover reporters enters north korea with an eye surgeon to perform surgery. of course its more about the city than the actual surgeries.

^I've watched that too, kids have cataracts :/

the end was most.. "shocking" (I guess you could call it)

the same with these government controlled tours

North Korea is scary because of its dictatorship and military scheme. Other than that, it's just another developing country with not much resources, North Koreans live no different from others. Think about China in the late 80s.

As I was told by the local Korean guide when I was in SK, NK is pretty much the same as SK but it's just 40 yrs behind.

geeknerd 12-10-2010 01:46 AM

in that sense why not say every country is the same?

unless they live in an igloo, or hunt for food with a spear, they are no different from us.
