mkv2vob is quite quick for me, even on my meh desktop. what are the specs of the netbook? imo, the best way to do things is to convert the file, then either use a thumbdrive or external hdd to play the videos, or copy the file over using PS3 Media Server, and then play it. worst case scenario, PS3 Media Server will convert on the fly as you play/copy the file. Typically, by the time I've made a snack, the file is done copying (only a couple mins over a shitty G router, through a lot of walls) |
Need some help on this...Can't figure a way to hard copy subtitles from avi to avi.. The source format I download arrives in an AVI format with subtitle files associated with it. On the computer vob sub plays the movie fine with subtitles. But when playing on the PS3 it doesn't recognize the sub.. Can you you stream and play the video with subtitles via Media Server? Or hardcopy from avi to avi subtitles using a program? |
Has anyone tried the Boxee yet? is it any good? |
That's weird. AVI files don't have switchable subtitles meaning whatever way you encode it the subtitles will stay as they're hardcoded. VOBSUB works by reading a seperate subtitle file that's named the same as the Video file. IE. test.avi will have test.sub. So I'm guessing the sub file is not getting encoded when you're transcoding. |
Is there any way I can play .rmvb files on my PS3 without using PS3 Media Server? I have a crappy router and the the video lags when I'm watching it. |
mkv2vob + FAT32 external drive/usb drive |
^ mkv2vob won't let me select .rmvb file, or am I doing something wrong? edit: Getting a media box would be my last option, so I'm trying to figure out is there's any program to convert .rmvb to something that is playable on PS3. And some of these .rmvb are 720p. |
rmvb is a pretty crappy format to convert from. I've been successfully able to do it in the past but only by using multiple tools. Not recommended for daily consumption. |
^Thanks, I'll look into a media box. Too bad the TVB drama that are in HD are in .rmvb format. |
+1 for media PC VLC just released version 2.0 which vastly improves playing mkv's as well as anything with hard coded subtitles. |
My videos lag thru wifi when watching it on the ps3. I think its best when u buy urself a stickusb and use that to watch it with ur ps3. Posted via RS Mobile |
think you can use ffmpegX as a 1 app solution to convert rmvb edit, nevermind that looks like its a Mac program only -_- edit2 here you can use this program called SUPER (its just a gui that uses a bunch of little programs to convert files but its a 1 app solution) http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER |
I just use Handbrake on my Mac to convert MKV files but for some reason, some of the files don't show up on my Xbox. |
