anyone know what is the brand name of the sweet dark soy sauce at Hawkers' Delight Hi guys I love the dipping sauce for the deep fried spring roll at Hawkers Delight on Main Street. The dipping sauce is thick dark sweet soy sauce. Anyone know where can I get this for home use ? Please share with us. |
are you certain that the sauce comes straight from a bottle? they might have made from a bunch of other sauces combined |
To be frank, I don't know whether it is made by themselves or buy the ones off the shelf. |
Why don't you ask them yourself the next time you are there? It is very unlikely that the sauce used is off the shelf but moreso a concoction of sauces. |
i think its tiger brand special grade dark sweet soy sauce. is it a really thick consistency? my parents buy it from my dads friends shop that sells pork/beef jerky. the place is called Bee Kim Heng on fraser. i think you can also buy it at this market store in coquitlam. i dont remember the name of the store but its like infront of the copa cafe:thumbsup: |
Maybe the OP means "Kecap Manis" ? Definition: Kecap manis is a sweetish, thick soy sauce made with palm sugar and seasoned with star anise and garlic. A popular tool of Indonesian cooks, it can be used as a dip, and some people like to use it as a substitute for dark soy sauce in recipes. you can find those in T&T or a bunch of other asian supermarket around town. |
just ask the owners, they are very friendly ppl |
